Cat insurance

Cat insurance

Animal health insurance for cats / cat insurance offers you, as a cat owner, insurance cover for your cat's illnesses.
Regardless of whether your cat needs treatment due to an illness, an accident or even a surgical procedure, cat health insurance covers the veterinary costs incurred. In the case of an operation, the follow-up treatment is of course also included in the scope of cat insurance.

Depending on the insurer, your cat's medically necessary treatments may have a benefit limit. In our basic variant, the benefit limit is EUR 2,500 per year. In the Classic and Optimal Care variants of our cat insurance for cats, there is an upper limit of EUR 5,000 or EUR 10,000 in cost coverage per year; All medically necessary veterinary costs are covered by the insurance.

Scope of services

Here is a brief overview of the scope of services provided by cat insurance:

  • Healing treatments
  • Diagnosis
  • Operation costs
  • Medication

When it comes to diagnostics, imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT or MRI are also insured.

Cat breeds

Depending on the breed of your cat, diseases such as corneal necrosis in the eye or a heart defect are particularly important for you as a cat owner. These diseases are covered in some animal health insurance plans. If you would like advice on the typical treatment costs specifically for your cat's breed, please feel free to contact us. Our team of veterinary doctors and insurance experts will be happy to take care of you and your pet.

For our insurance coverage, it is not important whether your cat is an outdoor cat or an indoor cat - with us, all cats get the same insurance coverage at the same price.

Foreign protection

Cats are sometimes our loyal companions even on vacation - which is why it is important that animal health insurance companies also reimburse veterinary costs abroad. All insurers have their own regulations in the area of foreign protection. Our tariffs always cover foreign protection for up to 12 months of stay abroad at a time. So if you are planning a longer stay abroad, this is not a problem.

Prescription food

The Classic Care and Optimal Care tariffs provide for proportional reimbursement of the feed costs of prescribed special feeds such as diet feed, food for allergy sufferers, etc.

Old cats

Older cats over the age of 8 are often no longer included in cat insurance policies. This is different with cat insurance from doc4pets Insurance powered by Smart Paws. You can find more information about this at: Insurance for old cats

What is not insured?

Pre-existing conditions : We do not cover costs associated with the diagnosis or treatment of illnesses or injuries that occurred or showed symptoms before the start of insurance coverage.
Pregnancy or infertility : Costs related to pregnancy, false pregnancy or infertility are excluded.
Routine or preventive treatments such as vaccinations, flea, tick or worm treatments, grooming, preventive dental treatments or weight control treatments.

Overview of cat health insurance rates for cats younger than 8 years

Of course, with the insurance from doc4pets powered by Smartpaws, you can also have your animal treated at any other veterinarian and are not tied to our practices!

As you can see below, you can choose between our partner Smartpaws three tariff classes (Optimal, Classic and Basic). It is understandable that you want the best possible care for your cat. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that you should always choose the most expensive plan. Why?

  • On the one hand, young cats generally do not need as much veterinary care as older cats, for example (pancreatitis).
  • In part, this is also a question of attitude - outdoor cats are certainly more often embarrassed by fights, foreign objects or car accidents than pure domestic cats
Therefore our tip - if you are unsure whether you even need cat health insurance, then choose a lower tariff - you can upgrade with us at any time!
